Regular price $138.00 $69.00 Sale

OVERVIEW

Sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) is a carrier protein that binds to the sex hormones: testosterone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), estrone and estradiol.

SHBG concentrations are increased in pregnancy, hyperthyroidism, cirrhosis, oral estrogen administration, environmental xenoestrogen exposure,  pesticides, plastics and certain drugs.

The ovaries and adrenal glands produce testosterone in women and even minor shifts in testosterone levels can exhibit a variety of symtpoms ranging from infertility to irregular periods. In men, high SHBG binds the available Free Testosterone and leads to decreased sex drive, fatigue, lack of motivation and erectile dysfunction.

SHBG levels can be reduced by avoiding excess estrogens, xenoestrogens, pesticides and plastics. SHBG increases in cases of low thyroid hormones, high cortisol levels and obesity.

Women:  High SHBG levels are associated with:

  • Estradiol Dominance
  • Increased incidence of PMS
  • Increased Risk of female cancers
  • Excess weight gain
  • Oral contraceptive use
  • Liver Congeston

Men: High SHBG is associated with:

  • Male hypogonadism
  • Testicular shrinkage
  • Hyperthyroidism
  • Liver Congestion
